flautist and educator

Story telling is at the centre of Nicola’s current creative work, drawing music together with themes and words. Sharing music with audiences, invoking emotions and starting conversations. Bringing flautists together, both young and old, to find joy in the shared experience. Connections with all the people right in front of you.
The flute has taken Nicola across the world, right from the beginning with student concert tours through to professional orchestral, concerto and teaching engagements. She has played concert halls across Asia – Singapore, India, China and Japan. She has played on top of mountains in Canada and along the great rivers of Europe.
Back at home Nicola studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Ian Clarke and Sarah Newbold. She often finds herself returning to Ian’s music in performing and teaching. While gaining her degree she won Gloucestershire Young Musician of the Year and her trio won opportunities to perform and study with William Bennett and Clifford Benson.
Nicola finds herself being invited to conduct flute ensembles and concert bands. Where she can also employed her arranging skills to suit the ensemble players. The flute has a strong community following in the UK – all flute players are invited to join the network.
